If we’re going to be living in a new place, I want to make sure that all of the safety considerations have been thought through coherently and logically. I’m kind of the safety guy, because my two best friends who I’ll be rooming with don’t really know much about safety, and about logical living practices on the whole. So, I think that I’m going to be playing dad once in a while, and I really don’t mind this at all because I love the idea of becoming a dad someday. I’ll just look at it as good practice for the future. The first thing that I’m going to do is check the smoke alarms and pick up two new fire extinguishers, because I know that we have zero at present. I literally will not be able to sleep at night knowing that we don’t have any fire extinguishers, so this will be very important for me and my sanity.

I personally haven’t seen enough episodes of Star Trek to know if they ever really showed the engine room in all that much detail. I’m sure it’s something much more technologically complex, but it would be hilarious if they actually had just a little plastic twisty knob to control the engine.
